Based in Mönchengladbach, SMS group is a German builder of plant for the metals industry, supplying equipment to make steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metals. Its plants take in electric-arc furnaces and casters, mills for hot and cold rolling, long-product minimills, tube and pipe lines, presses for forging and extrusion, furnace technology, and the electrics and automation that run them.

- Continuous casting machines (SMS Concast): Continuous casters for billets, blooms and beam blanks, plus flat-product slab casters for steel and special-steel grades.
- Hot and cold rolling mills: Hot strip mills, plate mills and cold rolling complexes, including pickling line / tandem cold mills with CVC plus technology for flat steel and aluminum.
- Long-products and minimill plants (CMT): Continuous Mill Technology (CMT) endless casting-rolling minimills producing rebar, wire rod and spooled coils for long-product steelmakers.
- Forging and extrusion presses: Open- and closed-die forging plants, ring rolling and extrusion presses for steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals.
- X-Pact electrics and automation: Process-control, drive and automation systems, including X-Pact SynReg electrode control, robotics and digital plant solutions across the metallurgical plant.
Both in-production and legacy SMS group equipment are available to order, subject to compliance screening.
